Join us in Tateyama, Chiba for this exclusive seasonal experience run by LocalLife&Culture where you will get a glimpse of what summer is like as locals living in the countryside!
Yuiko will guide you in this sustainable adventure where you will get to make your own plum syrup or umeshu (plum liqueur) from locally grown plums, cook game meat for lunch and pound rice to make your own mochi the traditional way!
This experience will be conducted in a kominka (traditional Japanese folk house) so you can immerse yourself completely.

Plum Syrup/Umeshu, Mochi, Wild Boar Experience (3.5 hours)
¥6,000 per person (+¥1,000 for Umeshu)
11am to 2:30pm
This experience will be guided by a local English speaking guide and includes:
Make your own plum syrup or umeshu (plum alcohol)
Cooking class using local wild game meat which you will get to eat for lunch*
Make your own mochi
You will get to take home your own plum syrup and mochi at the end of the experience!
Plum syrup can be mixed with water (still or sparkling) for a refreshing summer drinks or used as a natural sweetener for desserts or cocktails!
Other things to note:
The plum syrup will take 1-2 weeks and umeshu will take around 6 months to ferment and will not be ready on the day. If you are travelling from overseas, you will need to be permitted to bring fruits into your country when you return
Plum syrup is non-alcoholic
Umeshu is a plum liqueur and is available in this experience for an additional ¥1,000
Plum syrup is non-alcoholic (unlike umeshu or plum wine)
If kept refrigerated, plum syrup can last for several months
Please wear comfortable shoes and bring an apron if you don't want your clothes to get dirty (from the cooking class)
