Where to Find Them

  1. Cape Togenkyo (Kadogawa, Miyazaki)

How to get there:

  • By car: Approximately 10 minutes from Kadogawa Station and free parking is available

  • Best time to visit: Early to mid June

  • Entrance fee: ¥1,000 for adults, ¥300 for children

  • Approximately 2 MILLION hydrangeas of 80 varieties bloom across 20 hectares overlooking the ocean

  1. Shiraito Falls (Itoshima, Fukuoka)

How to get there:

  • By car: Parking available here

  • By bus: From Chikuzen Maebaru Station (South Exit) on the JR Chikuhi Line, take the Itoshima City Community Bus (Shiraito Line), get off at Shiraito Bus Stop, and walk along the promenade for about 25 minutes.

  1. Takatoyama Park (Kitakyushu, Fukuoka)

How to get there:

  • By car: Approximately 30 minutes from Kitakyushu City with parking here

  • By train: From Kokura Station take the 島郷合同庁舎前 bus 5 stops to 修多羅 and walk for 19 minutes

  • Best time to visit: Early to mid June

  • Entrance fee: Free

  1. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (Dazaifu, Fukuoka)

How to get there:

  • Best time to visit: Late May to early July

  • Entrance fee: Free

  • Although this shrine is known for their plum blossoms, in June, around 3,500 hydrangeas colour the grounds beautifully

  • Seasonal hanachozu (flower water basins) are filled with floating hydrangeas

  • Best time to visit: Late May to early July

  1. Nokonoshima Island Park (Fukuoka)

How to get there:

  • By car: There is a paid parking lot for ferry users (¥510 per day)

  • By public transport: Take the bus to Meinohama Ferry Terminal and board the ferry to Noko Ferry Terminal and take the Island Park bus to the park

  • Best time to visit: Early to late June

  • Entrance fee: Free

  • Nokonoshima Island is around 12 kilometers in circumference, floating in Hakata Bay

  • Visitors can enjoy a variety of seasonal flowers on a grand scale with over 1,000 hydrangea plants along a 100 meter 'Hydrangea Path'

  • Free colourful umbrellas are also available for rent which you can be used for your photoshoots!

  • Nokonoshima Island is around 12 kilometers in circumference, floating in Hakata Bay

  • Visitors can enjoy a variety of seasonal flowers on a grand scale with over 1,000 hydrangea plants along a 100 meter 'Hydrangea Path'

  • Selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, 40,000 hydrangeas across 50 species spanning blues, pinks and purples produce a magnificent scenery that is said to be one of the best in Kyushu

  • There is also an observatory that is 15m tall where you can overlook the Kirishima Mountains and Miyakonojo Basin

  1. Huis Ten Bosch (Sasebo, Nagasaki)

How to get there:

  • By car: Parking is available on site from ¥1,000

  • By train: Take the train to JR Huis Ten Bosch Station and walk for 7 minutes to the Welcome Gate

  • Best time to visit: Early to late June

  • Entrance fee: ¥7,600 for adults, ¥3,800 for children

  • A Dutch style theme park where hydrangeas add a burst of colour to the European village scenery
