Craft a Piece of Japan: Rubin Kokeshi Doll Workshop
Kokeshi dolls are handmade wooden dolls that originated in the 1800s and are unique in their simplicity of not having any limbs and their intricate designs, often hand painted floral or geometric.
In Kuroishi, Aomori, they have taken a modern twist on this traditional craft with the 'Rubin Kokeshi' dolls. Designed by Taku Satoh - a renowned designer who has collaborated with Issey Miyaki in the past, these dolls have a unique shape such that when placed next to each other, their curves and contours fit perfectly together.
In this workshop, unleash your creativity and let your imagination run wild as you bring your very own Rubin Kokeshi doll to life - choosing colours, patterns and expressions that reflect you!
